early anaphylaxis monitor

the number of people with food allergies in America has doubled, each of the last decades

unrecognized anaphylaxis is the leading cause of allergy related deaths

“delayed epinephrine injection is associated with fatalities”

there is a direct correlation between the time it takes to receive treatment to anaphylaxis, and fatality as a result. The earlier the better

Avery’s story

Insights

delayed anaphylaxis can go undetected for up to 48 hours after allergen exposure, but at it’s onset, can have the same severity as an immediate reaction

Goal

create a tool to decrease severity of anaphylactic reactions and fatalities due to allergic reactions

Ideation

epinephrine is the first and most important treatment of anaphylaxis and can prevent progression to life threatening symptoms

sketch ideation focused on friendly forms, with smooth contours, simple tech integration solutions, and few components, focused on durability

Mood

tech integration

Avery’s New Story

CMF Decisions

CMF exploration following youth trend forcasts

tech pieces and bands are interchangeable, allowing for customization and increased longevity of tech

no information is displayed on wearable

user group is targeted towards young children who wouldn’t benefit from seeing their health stats throughout the day

charge battery by removing top piece, and plugging into charging case

users can have multiple batteries (in customizable casings) to allow for constant monitoring

the app is specified to three user groups, to best provide features specified to a users needs

“parent” and “personal” modes allow for customization and incorporation of health data, and more in depth data tracking, “teacher” mode allows for easy connection to many devices, for surface level tracking without access to data entry

simple three piece design

pieces pull apart for easy size adjustment and charging

battery is housed in top piece, heart rate monitor, body temperature sensor, and blood pressure monitor housed in bottom piece firmly against the skin
